ACTION REQUIRED BEFORE JANUARY 6, 2021
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requires employers of CDL drivers to conduct a query in the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse at lease once per year for each CDL driver they employ. The CDL driver must consent prior to conducting (1) Pre-Employment query; and/or (2) Annual Query. FMCSA charges for queries, a flat fee of $1.25 per query. Employers must purchase a query plan to ensure the employer or a designated C/TPAs can conduct queries. C/TPAs cannot purchase queries plans on the behalf of employers.
As your C/TPA (consortium), we can conduct the required CDL driver query once a consent is provided to us. In addition, employers are required to report any violations – positive test, employer determined test refusals.

Reporting Violations $10.00 Per Driver
After January 6, 2020, the employer checks will still be required per 49 CFR Part 40 Section 40.25. Annual queries of all existing CDL drivers will be required.
Driver must provide written consent to the Employer.
